Blaze reduces Mokopane supermarket, take-away shop to ashes

A business owner in Mokopane lost his livelihood in a blaze early Thursday morning, in which two of his businesses were burned down.

MOKOPANE – It is alleged a Suricat Security guard heard an explosion in the early hours of this morning, but thought it is was an ATM bombing. It was only when responders made it to the scene in Pretorius Street, that they discovered the building that houses Choice Supermarket and Fish and Chips was ablaze.

The business owner was called and informed that the building was on fire. According to Suricat, the owner rushed to the premises and could do nothing but watch as his businesses burned to the ground.

Bosveld was on the scene as the fire brigade attempted to douse the flames inside the building as well as securing the area.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and the business owner does not wish to comment at this stage.
