Prince of confidence

After signing up for the pageant a second time, this little prince won over the judges with his confidence

POLOKWANE – Katlego Kgwatlalala took the first prince title at the Mr Confident 2017 Pageant, held at the Polokwane Royal Hotel recently.

Katlego, a Gr 4 learner at Jabez Christian School, entered the Mr Confident Pageant, a competition that allows girls and boys between the ages of three-12 to express themselves positively and confidently on the big stage.

The boys and girls showed off their talent on stage and Katlego caught the eyes of the judges. During the crowning ceremony, Katlego was crowned the first prince and his cousin was crowned second prince, keeping it in the family.

“I was so nervous when they called my name on stage, because I didn’t think I was good enough. But that moment actually built up my confidence and stage presence,” he said.

Katlego says he once entered the Jabez school pageant and felt sad when he didn’t win. While the judges concluded the marks, Katlego danced on stage during the break and entertained the crowd.

“My parents were very proud of me, because I took the brave step of entering a pageants, which most people think only girls enter,” he said.
