POLOKWANE – Currently registered with the National School of Arts (NSA) in Johannesburg, Seshego-born Omphile (15) was selected to take part in the International Presentation of Performers (Ipop) in Hollywood, Los Angeles in July.
The prestigious event is attended by actors, models, singers, and dancers from across the world who will each showcase their talents to a judging panel of top international agents, managers, casting directors, and industry professionals. Those who are selected at the auditions will get the opportunity to perform at the Ipop Success Awards Night where top international agents can pick them up as their next new star.

The young star spoke to BONUS about her passion for acting and how it came about. “At first I was not sure I wanted to go to a mainstream school or an art school but I settled on going to an art school. I applied at the NSA and I landed an audition where I did a monologue about a tomboy, basically a girl with some boy-like qualities and interests. I was admitted to NSA shortly after the audition,” she said.
Omphile’s mother, Selina Lesailane, is beaming with pride at her daughter’s abilities. “I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw Omphile perform for the first time. Growing up she always loved to entertain us with her singing and acting. One of the things she enjoyed most was mimicking the actors on TV. When she was on stage during her NSA audition, it was almost as if she was someone I did not know at all. They accepted her immediately after her audition. I am unemployed but I still strive to care for my children and make some of their dreams come true. I have always prayed to God for my children to succeed in life and realise their dreams and goals and now my first born has that chance to have a bright future,” she said with tears in her eyes.
“For my Ipop audition I performed the same monologue I did for the NSA audition and now I’m going through to the next round of auditions in Los Angeles,” Omphile said.
Her aunt, Montsaye Ngwaila, describes her as a mature and understanding individual. “Omphile is like my daughter. I watched her grow and I feel extremely proud of her. For her to realise her dreams in Los Angeles, however, she needs financial assistance, assistance we are unable to give her. I appeal to anyone who is willing to give this talented star the opportunity to realise her dreams to open their hearts and assist her with the R10 000 needed to do so.
I know she will make Limpopo and South Africa proud,” Montsaye said.
