POLOKWANE – The 10th of May may just be another day on the calendar for many people, but for Erica Pre-Primary School, it is the celebration of yet another year in existence.
The school celebrated their 44th birthday in style last Wednesday and the learners had to dress up according to the theme: ‘Wear something that starts with an ‘E’ (For Erica).
The parents were highly creative and there were engineers, ‘engeltjies’, Egyptians and elves, as well as a few familiar and famous faces including Einstein, Elvis and Queen Elsa from the popular movie, Frozen.
Owner and Pricipal Monja Groenewald, said the parents also happily got involved in the celebrations by donating toys to the school, as well as various other gifts. The day was highlighted by the learners who sang happy birthday and blew out candles and they were spoilt with a delicious bowl of ice-cream which was a treat for all.
Although he didn’t have ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ on, Zandré Nel rocked his Elvis outfit complete with a guitar and legendary sideburns.
“Imagination is more important than knowledge,” said Einstein.
Jandre Burger wore his Einstein outfit complete with spiky hair, glasses and a bow tie.
A smile sent from above. Elaine Niewenhuizen came to school dressed as an ‘engeltjie’ (angel).
Saskia, Joey and Zoëy Nel made the day a family affair by all dressing up as angels.(engeltjies)
