Entries for Limpopo Eisteddfod now open

Visual and performance artists are invited to enter the second annual Limpopo Eisteddfod and explore the many ways that this outstanding competition can help develop their talents and growth as artists.
Polokwane Observer will again be the print media sponsor of this event and report on Limpopo Eisteddfod events and achievers during the competition that will take place from 21 to 25 August. In an exciting twist, organisers have added ballet and tap dancing to the list of art forms that artists can participate in, opening up a whole new category and opportunities.
“Our aim is to encompass local talent through vocal, instrumental, drama, art and photography. Limpopo is very rich with talent. We would like to offer a platform to showcase these talents” says Ans Becker, Chairperson of the eisteddfod.
In other exciting news well known musician Gisela de Villliers has been announced as judge of the instrumental and vocal categories, while sought after drama coach Cecelia Cillié will judge the drama categories. Both judges are accredited and well known in the arts community for their firm fair and well-informed approach to the judging process.
The judges for the dancing and visual arts categories will be announced at a later date.
Interested parties are invited to visit the Limpopo Eisteddfod website, www.limpopo-eisteddfod.co.za, to find out in which categories they can take part. The rules, regulations and syllabus for each category as well as themes and expectations of participants are also available on the website.
All entries must be done through the website. No physical entries will be accepted.
Becker says all syllabi have been reviewed and problems that had been experienced in the first Limpopo Eisteddfod last year had been addressed. “We are looking forward to a very positive experience that will give artists opportunities to learn from the best and to hone their art,” she says.
