‘Hands on’ approach to bullying

The Sunny Show, on their recent visit to Polokwane, highlighted bullying during their show.

POLOKWANE – The Sunny puppet show visited Polokwane on 11 May, where they spoke of bullying in schools and how both teachers and learners should deal with bullies.

The show was held at Northview Christian Academy where both teachers and learners were in attendance.

Rudolph Basson, one of the two members of the puppet show, told Review that bullying has become a bigger threat and more and more dangerous.

“We recently  had a 12 year old girl wanting to kill herself because she was being bullied in Gauteng. This is not a isolated case. Children feel that they have no place to go and no one to turn to and they end up trying or even killing themselves,” he said.

He said that this is the reason that the puppet show does not only speak to children but also to the teachers and parents who needs to be the listening devices of the children and help them know that they are safe and assisted when the need it.
