Savannah Mall’s Amy Goosen celebrates her two mothers

As with most things in her life, Amy Goosen, Marketing Manager of Savannah Mall, is passionate about her relationship with her mother. “We are very close, she is my life,” she says.
Her mother, Debbie, lives in Dundee in KwaZulu-Natal and as a single mother set an excellent example of what a mother should be in every aspect of Goosen’s life.
“If I could one day be half the mother she is to me, I would be happy that I have achieved my motherhood goals. If I lived close to her, we would see each other every day,” she explains, adding that she and her sister never wanted for anything, even though they grew up in a single income household.
“The most important life lesson I have leant from my mother, is to always be strong, no matter the circumstances.”
Goosen also has a very special relationship with her mother-in-law, Gill, who lives a little closer in Vanderbijl Park. “We don’t have the expected mother and daughter-in-law relationship. My mother-in-law only has four sons and always says that I am the daughter she never had.”
She admires her mother-in-law for her fitness and active lifestyle. “She is 69-years-old and still goes on fitness walks, has her sushi and wine dates with her friends, regularly takes a friend for cancer treatments and adores animals. She is the independent older woman I one day want to be.
Savannah Mall has partnered with House of Asante Spa and Park Inn by Radisson Hotel and will be giving away spa, dinner and drinks vouchers for mall customers and their mothers to enjoy.
