According to Marius Jacobs of the SA Community Crime Watch, at the time, they contacted police stations and hospitals regarding Matthysen’s whereabouts but they could not supply him with any useful information. Today Jacobs confirmed to Review that Matthysen was eventually found in the said hospital and his vehicle was tracked down to where it was stored at the Tzaneen Police Station.

Review called the hospital and, according to information provided, Matthysen has most likely been discharged as there is no one by that name admitted to the hospital currently.
