The man (48) is alleged to have stolen over R1 million after hacking the bank account of the church

MOKOPANE –  The 480-year-old man accused of defrauding a local church of R1.6 million, was denied bail in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The local man is set to reppear before the same court on 12 May.

MOKOPANE –  A 48-year-old man and his accomplice reappeared before the Mokopane Magistarte’s Court on Tuesday 2 May where both were remanded in custody until 8 May.

The suspect as well as his girlfriend, who is also a suspect in the case,  faces a charge of internet fraud.


MOKOPANE – A local man appeared briefly in court where he was denied bail by the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crime Unit Court on today (Friday) for internet fraud.

According to a statement issued by Hawks Spokesperson, Captain Matimba Maluleke, the suspect (48) allegedly hacked the bank account of a church in Mokopane and stole an estimated R1.6 million. He was arrested on Wednesday, 26 April 2017 by Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Unit members after a lengthy and intensive investigation.

The case, which was brought forth in Pretoria, has since been moved to the Mokopane Magistrate Court. The suspect’s girlfriend and accomplice appeared in the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crime Unit Court on Wednesday where she was denied bail.

They are both expected to appear in court on 2 May for formal bail applications at the Mokopane Magistrate Court.

Investigations are ongoing.
