Maritz family in need of funding after accident

Four members of the family were seriously injured in the accident.

POLOKWANE – The accident occurred on Saturday, 6 May, on the corner of Biccard and Marshall Streets where the family were treated and eventually airlifted to Gauteng where they are being treated.

Friends and family members are therefore asking for financial help from the public and they are in need of financial assistance due to the increasing medical bills.

The Maritz family is being treated in hospital after a car accident which left them seriously injured.

The family were on their way from Polokwane to Phalaborwa, where they live, after a gymnastics competition which was held in the city. All three children, JD, Matt and Hannah were taking part.

The latest update on the family’s condition is as follows:

  • Daph (Mother) has had spinal scans and is suffering from back pain.

  • JD (son) has a broken collarbone and a C7 neck fracture.

  • Matt (son) has sustained broken ribs, a shoulder fracture and a C1 neck fracture. He is undergoing more scans.

  • Hannah (daughter) has severe lung damage, a skull fracture, brain swelling, blood on the brain as well as a small stomach tear.
