LIMPOPO -According to reports by the Lowvelder, a man in his 40s was travelling in the direction of Mbombela when he narrowly escaped death after he hit a hippo with his vehicle on the N4.
The vehicle was damaged to such an extent that it cannot be identified.
The report states the hippo was apparently spotted near Kwanyoni Lodge.
“The MTPA will head out to the area to investigate,” Louw Steyn of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency said.
Residents and motorists are therefore warned that because the animal is wounded, it would be extremely dangerous upon approach.
Several social media groups have warned fisherman and boaters to take extreme caution as well as mountain bikers and hikers near the dam.
