Lim SAPS clean-up leads to drug bust in Tzaneen

The total estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R58 000.

LIMPOPO – The operation was conducted in the Mokgoloboto village in Ritavi, where a 34-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs.

During the operation, 19 grams of CAT, 12 units of cocaine and 102g of tik were confiscated.

This follows more clean-up operations by Limpopo SAPS which focus on the mushrooming of drugs and proliferation of firearms.

Suspects were arrested in various areas of the province in what SAPS have pointed out to be crime hotspots in Limpopo.

In Polokwane and Groblersdal, a joint operation, focusing on theft of motor vehicle syndicates, led to the confiscation of two suspected stolen cars (a Nissan Sentra and a Nissan 1400).

Police spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the origin of the cars are still being determined.

In Mankweng, a 34-year-old woman was arrested in Botlokwa, Ga-Ramokgopa village, for possession of drugs in the early hours of Saturday morning(6 May).

During the operation, the following drugs were confiscated :

* 13 sachets of dagga.

* One matchbox of dagga.

* One plastic of Aram.

In Burgersfort, an operation was conducted in Mareseleng village, Tubatse, in which a 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

“An unlicensed firearm, three rounds of live ammunition and dagga were confiscated,” said Ngoepe.

In Thohoyandou, house robbery syndicates were conducted in various villages Tshaulu village, Tshwilavusiku and other parts of the cluster.

During this operation, eight suspects aged between 29 and 38-years-old, were arrested for possession of dagga, assault with grievous bodily harm, theft of motor vehicles and possession of suspected stolen properties in which a galaxy cellphone was recovered.

Ngoepe says police will continue to carry out these operations until crime hotspots throughout the province are demolished.
