Passionate youth activist leads by example

Koketso Marishane is a young man pushing the envelope in development

POLOKWANE – Koketso is an Ambassador for Youth Development endorsed by the presidency, as well as a passionate youth activist who is all about inspiring, leading and encouraging the youth in Limpopo.

“I’m presently part of various projects, both at local grass roots in the province, country and internationally, which seeks to unite people under a common and shared vision,” he said.

He says all the projects he is involved with revolve around the community and youth development. Besides sourcing worthy opportunities, Marishane can be found in the library researching and reading.

Originally from Limpopo, Koketso grew up in various places around South Africa and the world.

“With my career I travel extensively in and outside the country, and I therefore get inspired by using the internet, as it enables me to interact daily with people committed to bridging the inequality gap in South Africa, on the African continent and globally.

“This inspiration pushes me to acknowledge that there’s still a lot which we collectively need to do to tell the positive stories behind the achievements of our country and its people,” he said.

His cousin, Shilela Masemola, who supports him with most of his projects and also attends many events with him, said Koketso is a dedicated and professional individual who is also a perfectionist in everything he does.

“He makes the family really proud because he completes every project he’s involved with,” she said.

Koketso believes one of his greatest inspirations and motivations is this acknowledgement of the huge potential to create platforms for meaningful engagement that drives the country, the continent and ultimately the world.

“In essence, the need to serve the youth demographic dividend, both in South Africa and elsewhere globally, inspires me to deeply get involved in youth matters,” he added.

He said some of the projects he has undertaken have failed and he is not ashamed to admit it.

“But with patience, hard work, passion and dedication, nothing was and is impossible when you put every fibre of your body into your work or business.”

Koketso concludes by telling BONUS that the projects were then followed by a bigger project, Business Against Crime, Limpopo where he was the Provincial Youth Representative of the Provincial Steering Committee.

Koketso is involved in other community projects which involve empowering the youth in Limpopo, which he will announce soon.
