Lim roads claim 7 lives on MayDay

The exact cause of both accidents will form part of police investigations.

LIMPOPO – The Police in Hoedspruit and Mokopane are investigating two separate incidents of culpable homicide following the death of seven people in road accidents yesterday (Monday).

In the first incident three people died when two vehicles, a Toyota Yaris and a Nissan bakkie, allegedly travelling in opposite directions collided head on along the Willows road outside Hoedspruit yesterday morning. Both drivers and a passenger travelling in the Yaris were killed instantly said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“The deceased were identified as Pholosho Mashile, Justice Mgiba and Kenneth Nthlamo,” he added.

In the second incident four people were killed and three were seriously injured when two vehicles collided head-on along the N1 about 3 km away from the Nyl Plaza in the Mokopane policing area yesterday afternoon at around 14:00.

“It is alleged that two motor vehicles, a Mazda 3 and A VW Polo, were travelling in opposite directions when the one vehicle lost control and collided with the second vehicle.

The exact cause of both accidents will form part of police investigations, concluded Ngoepe.
