Robbery suspect shot and killed in Lephalale farm attack

The Lephalale Police have launched a manhunt for armed suspects who attacked a  couple on a farm outside Lephalale yesterday evening (Wednesday).

LIMPOPO – According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, it is alleged that four unknown armed suspects entered the farm house, tied up and robbed a 73-year-old man and his 58-year-old wife. “The couple was held at gun point, their arms and legs tied and were robbed of their rifles.”

He added that during the robbery the victims managed to untie themselves and shoot in the direction of the fleeing suspects, hitting one. The fleeing suspects dropped the stolen rifles and a bag and disappeared with only a cellphone which belongs to one of the victims.

The police received a report and reacted swiftly and started following these suspects, said Ngoepe.

“One unknown suspect aged around 20 was found dead a few meters away from the scene.”
