A Mrs on a mission

Mrs SA top 100 finalist shares her hopes and dreams for the future

LIMPOPO – The top 100 Mrs South Africa finalists have been announced and Limpopo hopeful Zama Ramokgadi, (31) is keen to take the number one spot.

Originally from Eshowe, in KwaZulu-Natal, she currently resides in Steelpoort and is looking to take the crown and represent the country on international stages.

She is happily married with three children, two girls aged three and 12, and a nine-month-old son.

“I grew up in my hometown, Eshowe, but spent my high school years in Vryheid, which is further north of KZN,” she explained.

Zama has a national diploma in chemical engineering from UNISA.

“I’m an environmentalist, that is why I’m currently an environmental specialist, following my passion and doing what I love.”

Zama owns a business called African Hairline which formulates and manufactures a hair care range specially designed to care for African hair. “The hair products are carefully formulated to restore receding hairlines, promote hair growth as well as good healthy hair.”

Zama is part of the Tshilo Mentoring Programme, where they mentor young women on various life issues including career awareness, self-esteem, sex education, relationships and many other topics that they feel are important in the life of young women growing up. “Our vision is to help keep a girl child in school, keep her focused on things that matter in life, help her aim for the stars and know that she can reach for her dreams, as anything is possible with hard work, dedication and a clear vision,” she added. She tells BONUS that when she heard of the Mrs SA pageant she immediately checked their website and quickly learnt that it is more than a beauty pageant, it is in fact a women-empowerment programme.

“I realised that their vision and values of women empowerment, excellence, and being genuine, align exactly with mine.”

From that moment on she was certain that this is a brand she had to associate herself with. Two months into the journey, Zama has had an opportunity to meet so many inspirational genuine and authentic women that she otherwise wouldn’t have met. “I have grown as a woman and I can confidently say I am presently the best version of myself,” she says. Zama is truly grateful to be a part of this phenomenal, and transformational journey.

“This is my first pageant, I’ve not really participated in modelling prior to this, but nonetheless am looking forward to the pageant.

“South Africa has a lot of beautiful and talented women, and this year’s Mrs SA pageant received the most number of entries of women who want to be part of this journey and I was one of the ones selected to the semi-finals. I feel honoured and happy to be part of the top 100.”

She advises young aspiring models to, “Go out there, take charge of your life and make your dreams come true”.
