A 30-year-old man is expected to appear in the Zaaiplaas Magistrate’s Court shortly following his arrest on Tuesday for allegedly killing his neighbour.
A passer-by reportedly caught the suspect drinking the blood of his victim. Eyewitnesses and the victim’s children have reportedly been sent for counselling.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said the incident happened at around 07:30 when the suspect was allegedly seen to be hacking his 39-year-old neighbour with a sharp object. “The passer-by allegedly recalled seeing the suspect sucking the blood from his victim’s body. The Police were informed, reacted swiftly and found the suspect on the scene with an axe in his hands,” Ngoepe said. He also confirmed that counselling had been arranged for the victim’s children and community members who witnessed the ordeal.
