Two arrested in Vuwani following unrest

According to police spokesperson Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, six cars were damaged by people throwing stones from bushes. He says cases of malicious damage to property were opened but no arrests have been made as yet.

“Motorists are advised to drive with caution, especially during the night, as the volatility of the situation cannot rule out the possibility of stones being thrown at passing vehicles from the bushes. In the event of this happening, the police must be contacted immediately,” he warned.

Ngoepe says the South African Police Service has done maximum deployment in the Vuwani area to protect the community and properties during the unrest.

“The police will continue to monitor the situation until normality returns,” he concluded.
