Ring ring!! No answer at the Polokwane Municipality

Municipal Spokesperson Matshidiso Mothapo says due to the current system only a certain number of callers can be assisted at a given time

POLOKWANE – Concerned readers have informed Review that phone calls to the local municipality are not being answered.

Review contacted Municipal Spokesperson Matshidiso Mothapo to verify these claims. Mothapo confirmed that calls are not being answered and explained that the reason is not due to staffing issues but rather a glitch in their new system.

“The system we are using now does not allow more than two calls to come through at a time. Therefore, if one of our consultants are busy helping a client and another one phones in, the phone just rings,” he explained.

He said there are municipal workers ready to take calls but because of the system, only a certain number of callers can be assisted at a given time. According to Mothapo, they are working on acquiring a computer operated answering device that works on a queuing system. “We believe this system will help a lot,” he concluded.

Callers are advised to keep calling until they get through.
