Transport MEC’s Easter message

The MEC responsible for Transport and Community Safety in Limpopo, Nandi Ndalane has warned traffic law violators that no mercy shall be applied during the Easter weekend.

POLOKWANE – “Once again our province will be welcoming multitudes of people arriving for the Easter holidays. Many are coming for religious pilgrimages while others will visit their loved ones for the long weekend.

“Our call is for road users to obey the rules of the road,” she said. Ndalane asked road users to refrain from drinking and driving, driving recklessly, driving at excessive speeds, texting and driving, and importantly, jaywalking. “We are ready to enforce the law and will take punitive measures against traffic law violators. Be warned we shall have no mercy.

The Department, working together with its agencies including, and not limited to, Road Traffic Management Corporation, shall be deploying traffic officers for extended hours while on some days others will be working 24 hours.

“We have to realise as road users we carry the key responsibility for our safety. I urge everyone to spread this message of road safety to our loved ones.

“We cannot afford to lose any more lives because of road crashes. Road accidents can be beaten. I wish you a blessed and carnage-free Easter weekend.”
