POLOKWANE – The Polokwane and Westenburg Policing areas have recently experienced an escalation in the mushrooming of drugs and this prompted the Polokwane Cluster to embark on the operation, according to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.
“The operation which focused on drugs and other crime related incidents was led by the Cluster Commander Brigadier Dikeledi Mangena and was composed of various police units from the Polokwane, Magatle, Lebowakgomo and Westenburg areas as well as other stakeholders.
During the operation 20 vehicles and 90 people were searched, 9 undocumented immigrants arrested and a spaza shop was closed down… The manager was given section 33 notice to appear before an immigration officer to ascertain if he is registered with SARS and to verify the legality of his asylum.
Other success included:
- 3 illegal motor mechanics were given traffic summons.
- 20 motor vehicles were checked by the SAPS Vehicle Identification Unit.
- 3 traffic summons were issued for road traffic ordinance.
- 213 counterfeit CD’s confiscated.
These operations which focus on the mushrooming of drugs will continue in the crime infested areas in and around Polokwane, concluded Ngoepe.
