With fashion concious residents’ anticipation driven to fever pitch, global retail giant H&M will open its doors at Mall of the North on Saturday.
The doors will open at 11:00 and customers who arrive early will be treated to live entertainment as well as fun and fashionable rewards on opening day.
The brand new 1 200 m2 store will offer fashion for the entire family as well as fashion labels such as Ladies Modern Classic, H&M Mama and H&M Sport.
“We see a lot of potential in South Africa and are extremely excited to be opening yet another store in the northern part of the country,” Pär Darj, Country Manager for H&M South Africa, said in a recent media release. H&M already opened stores in the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
General Manager of Mall of the North, Sumari de Ridder says the centre is delighted to welcome H&M and that the store will add an international flair to Mall of the North’s strong fashion offering. “The wait is almost over and Mall of the North shoppers will now be able to update their wardrobes with the very latest styles and trends from this fashion forward global retailer,” she says.
De Ridder adds that the introduction of H&M also shows Mall of the North’s position as a leading shopping centre in the province. “The introduction of H&M is part of our mission to continuously offer shoppers what they want by adding even more choice and variety from top local and international brands.”
Polokwane Observer spoke to residents on Tuesday to find out how they feel about the opening of H&M in the city and the overwhelming mood is one of excitement and delight.
Charity Matlou says she is not familiar with the brand, but with all the buzz about the opening she cannot wait to see what all the fuss is about. “I have seen the advertisements and the clothes look like it would be just my style,” she says.
Teenagers Kelsey Olivier and Abby van Niekerk say they are quite giddy with excitement and are very curious to see what the store has to offer. “What is nice about H&M is that it is not just a run of the mill store that you see on every corner. It carries with it a sense of exclusivity,” is Kelsey’s opinion.
Willie Chiloane says he has been to other H&M stores before, but that his wife could not stop talking about the opening on Saturday. “We will definitely be at the opening to make the most of the great specials and give-aways,” he says.
