Limpopo serial rapist handed 11 life sentences

Tshelani Edwin Risimati was convicted for crimes committed between 2012 and 2015

LIMPOPO – The Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Ledwaba has welcomed the heavy sentence handed down by the Thohoyandou High  Court to a 35-year-old serial rapist and murderer.

According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, Tshelani Edwin Risimati was sentenced to 10 life terms for rape, one life term for murder and and extra 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

He terrorised the Vhembe District between 2012 and 2015 and committed the following offenses:

– Murder of Nephawe Rofhiwa Stauley (34) from Habengwa village in May 2015.

– Rape of 10 women, aged between 34 and 86-years-old, in the Mavunda, Habengwa, Tshaulu, Mashau, Mutale and Dumela areas in the Vhembe District.

“He would attack his victims in the fields and then rape and rob them. In one incident he attacked and raped a woman in the victim’s house.
