Lim SAPS clamp down on cross border crimes

Limpopo SAPS members continue to fight crime in the province, including ports of entry to the province.

LIMPOPO – During a recent operation at the Groblersburg Port of Entry, four suspects between the ages of 26 and 41-years-old were arrested for possession of a suspected stolen car and possession of dagga.

Police spokesperson Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe confirmed that the following items were recovered during the arrest:

– A White Mercedes Sprinter which was en-route to Zimbabwe via Botswana.

– A Silver Mercedes Benz.

– Bags containing dagga.

“The suspects will appear before the Tom-Burg Periodical Court soon and the police investigations continue,” said Ngoepe

Meanwhile in Ohrigstad, outside Burgersfort, six suspects between the ages of 33 and 49-years-old were arrested for the murder of a taxi driver who was shot and killed during last month.

Ngoepe says during the arrest, two firearms were recovered and the suspects will appear before the Praktiseer Magistrates Court soon.

In Polokwane, four suspects (between the ages of 34 and 46-years-old) were arrested in Greenside Ext 71, for selling liquor without a licence and police confiscated dozens of bottles of liquor.

In Tshaulu outside Thohoyandou, a 32-year-old man was arrested for several business robberies and during the arrest, an illegal 9mm firearm with one magazine loaded with five rounds was recovered as well as cash amounting to R4 030.

“The suspect will appear before Tshaulu Magistrate Court soon and police investigations are still continuing,” concluded Ngoepe.
