The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in Limpopo planned a mass march against perceived greed and exploitation of the poor to the doorstep of Anglo Platinum’s operations at Ga-Molekane in the Mokopane area for yesterday morning (Wednesday).
On Tuesday acting EFF Provincial Chairperson Rendani Munyai informed Polokwane Observer that a host of issues would be raised in the memorandum of grievances to be handed to mine management. Summarising the matters, she said the mine was seen to be failing in empowering their people, that it was hiring workers from outside the province, that its blasting operations resulted in the injury of a child in the past without medical assistance being offered to the family and that people and graves were relocated without compensation. She predicted that party supporters, members of communities around the mine and further afield would be joining in the march to the mine situated an estimated 20 km from Mokopane.
The march was expected to lead to the handing over of the memorandum of grievances to mine management at around 14:00.
The EFF in Limpopo called on all communities around the Mogalakwena area to join a show of force against the evil of white monopoly capital and greed.
