Limpopo’s own Deeds Registry Office was officially opened in the city by Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Mcebisi Skwatsha on Wednesday (yesterday).
The office has been fully functional as from Monday, with its seat at 101 Dorp Street and 140 registrations were lodged within the first two days.
Skwatsha delivered the keynote address and said that the main objective behind the establishment of the Limpopo Deeds Registry is to increase accessibility of deeds services to citizens in the province.
“The Deeds Registry will be responsible for the registration of real rights in land, maintenance of a public land register, provision of registration information and maintenance of a archive of registration records,” Skwatsha explained and said that the opening of the facility was long awaited. Skwatsha said that residents of the province will no longer have to incur unnecessary costs and spend time to travel to Pretoria to do business with the Deeds Registry there “Today is better than yesterday and we have a good story to tell. We can now provide services to generations to come,” Skwatsha concluded.
