Chess league resumes

With only one more round left in the Polokwane Chess League for primary schools, the competition is tangible.

POLOKWANE – Polokwane Chess League Organiser, Frans Badenhorst, said the final round of the league is set to conclude on 8 May with eight teams facing off to crown the best.

After the finals the four leading school teams in the league will compete for the top four positions. The four leading schools in the league are Laerskool Pietersburg, Laerskool Pietersburg-Oos, Curro Heuwelkruin, and Laerskool Louis Trichardt, the only school competing in the league that is not Polokwane based.

The other school teams competing for the top eight positions are:

• PEPPS.

• Pemps.

• Northview Christian Academy.

• Mitchell House.

He said although the Polokwane Chess League is mainly for primary schools, there is an interest from various high schools to compete in a high schools section of the league.
