‘The Lim premier must be fearless, and prepare to fight’ – SACP

If the President, Jacob Zuma removes Limpopo Premier Stanley Mathabatha in order for the Guptas to loot our province, the South African Communist Party (SACP) will start a civil war in the province.

LIMPOPO –  This is the opinion of Gilbert Kganyago, Provincial Secretary of the SACP as he addressed party members during the fifth SACP Congress held in Polokwane on Sunday.

Mathabatha serves as member on the SACP’s central committee.

“There is no smoke without fire. The premier must be fearless, and prepare to fight. We are behind you, Mr Mathabatha. We mustn’t be fooled by those who say that reshuffling the cabinet is based on radical economic transformation.”

The president, according to Kganyago, “outsourced the Guptas to capture government. The sovereignty of our state has been compromised because of the president”.

He encouraged party members to start organising pickets and marches, saying they will appeal to the president to resign.

“During election times, the ANC used to say ‘here is the enemy, let’s fight together’. We fight and become victorious but positions are given to comrades. They will tell you that the ANC leads and the ANC is everything.

“As the SACP, we must disabuse (sic) ourselves from the ANC. We have more political power in South Africa and the problem is that, we have consolidated it to certain group,” he said.

The objective conditions of the working class currently tilt the scale in favour of the SACP, contesting the state power as a party in its own right, the question is how, when and where do we start to contest, he asked.

“The current level of political consciousness and the attraction of self serving interest elements in the ruling ANC proves to be a not easy phenomena to negate not unless the latter itself is reborn under the new revolutionary qualities.

“Things have changed and will continue to change, so the question is whether to remain in a time warp of stagnation or be alive to adaptation,” said Kganyago.

Mathabatha said it was an open secret that the liberation movement is torn apart by factions, “Comrades should apply their conscious minds when electing leadership in 2019, otherwise factions will worsen”.
