Possible water shortage expected in Polokwane over the weekend
Repair work on a main line at the Ebenezer Plant will take about eight hours to complete
POLOKWANE – Residents are warned about a possible water shortage over the weekend due to maintenance work that needs to be completed at the Ebenezer Plant.
According to a notification received from Lepelle Northern Water, the main line at the plant was damaged during a recent storm and maintenance will be carried out on Saturday (1 April).
“The Tzaneen Municipality will be switching off the power to the plant on 1 April from 09:00 to 17:00 and this will affect water supply from the plant to Polokwane. The public is advised to use water sparingly to avoid a situation of water shortage in the city.”
Watering of gardens is strictly prohibited during this period and the municipality will provide temporary relief through tankers and other means should the situation result in shortages.
