Couples that jam together, stay together

Mama Jam experimented with various flavours to refine the products she and her partner sell at various stores in Polokwane

POLOKWANE – A local couple decided to put their skills to use and came up with a delicous idea that led to the establishment of their own business. Lebogang Dlamini and Makobeng Mama Jam Mampana own Jovial Productions, a business that supplies homemade fruit jams to stores across Polokwane, including NJ – Fresh Produce, Spar, Food Zone, and Steps.

Makobeng learned while experimenting at home how to make jam.

“After trying out how to make jam, my family and children enjoyed it so much I decided I want to share my unique tasting fruit jams with others,” she said.

They get their fruits from local farms from produce farmers in Tzaneen and Bushbuckgridge and began selling the jam via social media to gain initial exposure.

It was not long before their jams were in such high demand and they decided to sell at various stores. “The feedback we have received has been nothing but positive and we plan to move into the industrial market with our product. Our jams are unique and have three flavours, marula, banana, and pineapple,” Makobeng added.

Their jams are organic and are rich in vitamin C and B6. They are also rich in fibre and are healthy for everyone.

Makobeng and Lebogang said their main focus for the future is to supply jams to hostels, crèches, schools, Sassa payout points, prisons, hotels, restaurants, and bakeries, among others.

The official launch of their company is scheduled for later in the year and they encourage people to keep their eyes peeled for the date.

“We believe the launch will be a great platform for us to showcase all our products we have in stock. We plan to give local business owners the opportunity to exhibit and sell their products during the launch and hopefully turn it into a full networking session. The launch date will be announced soon,” Makobeng said.

They thank all the shops and appreciate the opportunity they received to sell their products on their shelves which will greatly empower and grow their business.
