49 suspects ‘cleaned-up’ in Limpopo

Intelligence Driven Operations are still being conducted throughout the province and have yielded several successes in the fight against drugs and crime.

LIMPOPO – The operation composed of various Police Units being K9, Detectives and Crime Prevention and started on Monday and concluded this morning (Thursday) , said Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

In the Burgersfort Cluster, eighteen suspects aged between 25 and 34-years-old were arrested for possession of dagga, armed robbery and business robberies. Dagga, money, a white Nissan NP 300, a 9mm pistol, cellphones and groceries were recovered.

Meanwhile, in the Groblesdal Cluster, a man was arrested for the possession of Nyope to the value of R1 400. He was arrested after being searched during a stop and search operation. More arrests were effected in the Groblersdal Cluster when 21 suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from theft to armed robbery. A firearm and a suspected stolen motor vehicle were recovered.

In the Lephalale Cluster, five suspects aged between 21 and 35-years-old were arrested for planting dagga and dagga plants were recovered planted in the nearby river.

In the Thohoyandou Cluster, three suspects were arrested for a series of business robberies and the possession of an unlicensed firearm and in the Makhado cluster a 39-year-old man was arrested for possession of dagga. Dagga to the value of R10 000 was recovered.

All the arrested suspects will appear before various Magistrate Courts soon, said Ngoepe.

Police investigations are still continuing.
