Women surf waves of motivation

A campaign to empower women to pursue their dreams and ace job interviews was attended by many and all in attendance left feeling inspired

MOKOPANE – “Women shouldn’t underestimate the power within them,” this was the message conveyed by organisers of a women’s empowerment campaign held in Mokopane recently.

Debby Molongoana and Innocentia Kolotsi, both from the Mogalakwena Municipality, say the Surf School of Shine (SSOS) Campaign held in Mokopane helped them to know that lack of self confidence in women is built upon worry and procrastination.

Lungisa Sonqishe, personal brand career and life coach, said Surf School of Shine strives to inspire South Africans through the campaign with the help of a personal brand career and life coach who will be facilitating the online courses categorised by four general themes, how to be interview-ready, career planning, shine in the workplace, financial freedom and budgeting

“Confidence breeds success! Good mentorship, role models and readily available practical tools will advance career goals. This is the conviction of FMCG giant, Unilever, which has embarked on a three-month campaign to heighten awareness of the relationship between confidence building and occupational success,” she said.

“SSOS offers women from all walks of life and age groups free online courses packed with inspirational content to promote confidence and guidance in their respective careers. One of the courses will explore simple steps on how to improve your confidence, give you peace of mind and make you shine in your job interview,” said Sonqishe.

She said shining in the workplace requires some personal mastery, mindfulness and most importantly, self-confidence.

The Surf brand team will traverse Limpopo, Mpumalanga and Eastern Cape to host four workshops and engage with schools and the general public about the free online courses in an effort to encourage participation:

Participants who attended the workshop in Mokopane won Surf product hampers, airtime, data bundles and cellphones.

Grade 12 learners at targeted schools in each region also form part of the activation to encourage registration for the online courses and upcoming workshops. For the convenience of learners, registration kiosks have been deployed at schools.

“Whatever stage in your career you are in, Surf’s School of Shine will support you with practical tools and tips to succeed in the workplace. Confidence is an attribute that sets you apart from others, making you dazzle in your everyday life,” said Sinovuyo Rodolo, Assistant Brand Manager, Surf.

The free online courses offer useful information such as correct body language in an interview; tackling complex interview questions, remaining motivated, developing a career plan, understanding how to be self-confident, acquiring skills on how to be a positive personal brand, managing finances and learning how to spend and make the most of money.

To register for the free online course visit https://www.surfshine.co.za/users/signup and enter your mobile number, register on Facebook or Google+. Call 0860 100 896 for further enquiries.

Loads of prizes will be up for grabs at participating stores during March and April,” said Rodolo.
