These beautiful works of art can be seen in Marmer Street

POLOKWANE – This dynamic couple decided to use their skills to become entrepreneurs, selling artwork made from scrap metal and wood.

John Mungoshi and Bridget Ngwenya, originally from Zimbabwe, now reside in Polokwane sell beautiful works of art created by John on the side of the road.

Bridget sells the products while John stays home where he creates more pieces for their stock.

John tells BONUS he has made special arrangement with various scrap metal dealerships in the city to purchase material at a discounted rate which helps him to make his art work at affordable prices.

“I received my inspiration to craft these artworks from my father when I was 11 years old. He also crafted items for a living and I have passed these skills on to my girlfriend, Bridget. With the money we make from crafting and selling these artworks, we make enough money to take care of our basic necessities,” he said.

He makes the artwork in his garage at home.

“Not may people appreciate the beauty of rusted products, yet there are the few who support us by buying our art. We create something out of nothing and that is why I feel I’m unique and talented in my own way,” John said.

They hope to one day generate enough income with their business to open their own metal design shop where they can showcase their art.
