Two suspects are expected to apply for bail during their appearance in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of suspected stolen stock on Monday.
The suspects from Seshego, outside Polokwane were apprehended after Police received information that they were planning on selling apparently stolen cattle at an auction in Mokopane last Friday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe said after Police received the tip-off members of the Mokopane and provincial Stock Theft Unit gathered at the point where an auction was held. “The suspects arrived in two separate bakkies with trailers transporting ten cows. Police approached the two vehicles the moment they entered the auctioneer’s premises. The value of the cows is estimated at R100 000,” Ngoepe said.
The two suspects briefly appeared in court on Monday after which the case was postponed. They remain in custody. Investigations continue.
