A s an extension of their Valentine’s Day celebrations, Mall of the North gave shoppers the opportunity to give the gift of life by donating blood at the mall.
Mall management and the SANBS hosted a blood drive from Friday to Sunday and donors commented on how convenient it was to donate blood while taking a breather from their shopping.
According to SANBS Limpopo Public Relations Officer, Dottie Pinn the drive succeeded in gathering 39 units of blood. “We had 48 people stepped up to do their bit to save a life. Our target was 40, so we are happy to have exceeded that,” she said.
“We had to defer nine potential donors due to medical reasons and four of the people who were willing to contribute to the blood stock in Limpopo were first time donors.”
Mall of the North Marketing Manager Mari Delport thanked shoppers who stopped to save a life and said mall management was very happy with the success of the blood drive.
“We work hand in hand with the SANBS and together we aim to save lives.”
