Stolen cattle recovered outside Polokwane – police

The stolen cattle were reported stolen from the Palmietfontein Plots, says the police

POLOKWANE – The SAPS Stock Theft Unit have recovered cattle which was allegedly stolen from Palmietfontein Plots earlier this week, says the police.

The 31 heads of cattle were allegedly stolen from Plot 22 between 20 and 21 February, said Police Spokesperson,” Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe.

“Police investigation led them to a farm next to ga-Mojapelo village near Mankweng, where they found suspects making fire in order to brand the stolen cattle at around 18:00 yesterday evening. Upon the police approach the suspects fled into the bushes and abandoned a vehicle.”

Ngoepe added that on the scene, the police managed to recover 25 of the 31 heads of cattle. Six are still missing.

Investigations continue to determine if the vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux with registration BZF 944 L, was reported stolen or not or who the owner is.
