POLOKWANE – The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) Senior Legal Officer, Dr Eileen Carter says racial discrimination and hate speech are the two major cases the commission deals with in the province compared to other human rights disputes. She made this statement during the commission’s Media Stakeholders Engagement Programme held at the Polokwane Library’s Activity Room recently.
Carter said cases of racial discrimination and negative remarks on people’s disability are often heard at the equality courts. She further said these are serious offences and one can be jailed for this.
