Water restored to Polokwane following Dineo disturbance

The municipality says that water has been restored to all areas affected by this past weekend's water shortage.

POLOKWANE – Water supply to some areas in Polokwane was halted this past weekend due the Ebenezer Plant shutting off due to bad weather.

The reason for the plant not pumping water to the city at around 02:00 on Friday morning was due to a lack of electricity in the municipal area.

According to information from Lepelle Northern Water, it was unclear, at the time, when the water supply would be restored as the municipal workers in the area were unable to go to the site due to bad weather.

On Sunday, the municipality received notification that the Olifantspoort Plant had to be switched off due to a serious pipe leak on the Specon line that supplies Polokwane.

According to the notification, it took four hours for the repairs to be completed. Areas  affected by this were parts of  the city and Seshego.

Municipal spokesperson, Matshidiso Mothapo confirmed that water supply has been restored to affected areas but advised residents to continue using water sparingly to assist the process of picking up the reservoir levels.
