Polokwane residents march to raise awareness of human trafficking

Members of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Roman Catholic Church will march to the Polokwane Police Station in order to hand over a memorandum of grievances and to raise awareness of human trafficking.

The march started at the SABC Park church at around 08:00 and will proceed to the police station. A prayer session will be held after the march.

“Human trafficking is the modern form of slavery which affects a lot of people in the world. The majority of the victims are women trafficked as drug mules, prostitutes and cheap labour among others. In Most cases Human Trafficking is hidden from society hence residents should join forces to fight against traffickers.”

According to George Sethosa, the Sacred Heart Cathedral chairperson of local pastoral council the march is held annually to try create awareness and warn people about the dangers of human trafficking.

The march is open to the public and residents are encouraged to come out in their numbers and fight the scourge of human trafficking.
