MOOKGOPHONG – A suspect to the murder of an elderly woman, Pats Truter, (79) from Mookgophong, was arrested on Tuesday and held captive at the Mookgophong Police Station.
Truter was murdered in her home in Golf Park, Mookgophong and the suspect stole a cellphone and car keys. according to WO George Ledwaba.
According to a statement issued by Spokesperson, Brig Motlafela Mojapelo, “the deceased was seemingly staying alone and was only discovered late in the afternoon of Friday when neighbours became suspicious. The last time she was seen alive was on Thursday at around 10:00.”
He added that according to information the body of the deceased was found lying on the floor, covered with a towel and carpet.
Preliminary investigation shows the deceased might have been strangled.
“There was no sign of forced entry and it is not clear as to the motive for this incident.”
Ds Jan Truter, the deceased’s son, describes his mother as a caring and loving person. He said that this was a very sad truth, but it is done and dusted, it’s in the past. He mentioned that the police has done a phenomenal job in capturing the suspect and thanks them for their great effort.
