EFF Region Chair: Dedicated and Determined

Ronny Malema is not only Julius Malema's cousin but he is also the EFF's Capricorn Regional Chairperson.

POLOKWANE – We may have heard of some of the members and leaders of the EFF but we might still be unsure or do not know what their roles are within the party.

We focus on one politician within EFF, Ronny Malema, who is the Capricorn Regional Chairperson.

Ronny Malema grew up in Seshego Zone 1, under the same roof as his cousin, EFF Leader, Julius Malema.

Ronny and his wife, Shoawlleen, call Polokwane home along with their three beautiful sons aged three, five and eight.

“Growing up I was the only thorn among the roses as I had three sisters who I love dearly. That is partly the reason why Julius and I grew up almost like brothers. Family is one of the most important parts of my life and I cannot imagine my life without them,” he said.

Before joining the EFF in 2013, Ronny studied business administration and management and was an HR administrator at the Department of Education before he joined the EFF. Currently he is studying public relations at Unisa.

He started within the EFF as a co-coordinator and visited villages in the Capricorn district to gain support for the political party. “It was not long before my dedication and determination was noticed and I was appointed to my current position in the EFF.

“The nature of my position means I travel a lot but I still do my best to spend some quality time with my family. We plan to go on a family vacation around the end Of February because we did not manage to do so during the December holidays due to work obligations,” he explained.

Besides being a dedicated family man, Ronny is also a hardworking individual with a head for politics.

“As the EFF Capricorn Regional Chairperson I have an important strategic role to play in representing the vision and purpose of our political party.

“I ensure that the management committee functions properly and that there is full participation at meetings.

“Along with that it is also crucial to ensure only relevant matters are discussed so that effective decisions can be made and carried out.

“As a political party our community is our first priority as without their support we cannot exist. That is why we always do our best to have their concerns heard and addressed by the relevant people and departments to ensure everyone are happy with the service delivery they get,” Ronny added.

Although he does not have anything in particular planned for Valentine’s Day, he is sure of one thing, that he will definitely spoil his wife for supporting him through his career.
