Muni working on pothole problem

While the rain may have led to an increase in dam levels, it has led to potholes forming and in other areas reappearing on the city’s roads.

POLOKWANE – Municipal Spokesperson Disree Manyane has reported that most of the tarred roads have exceeded their life span and that leads to potholes resurfacing after heavy rainfall.

“As part of the municipality’s day-to-day maintenance activities, pothole repair falls under the reactive maintenance schedule and the rehabilitation project is performed under the preventative maintenance schedule with its own budget,” she said.

She added that the road rehabilitation projects are in the initial phase. “Currently, the projects are still in the planning and designing stages, once the designs are completed and finalised, the implementation phase will resume”.
