Lions killed, dismembered outside Polokwane
[NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS] The Westenburg police are looking for suspects responsible for the killing of three lions on a farm south of Polokwane.
POLOKWANE -The bodies of three lions, possibly killed through poisoning, were found today (Friday), but appear to have been dismembered yesterday evening (Thursday), said Spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo.
He added that the two of the lions, both males had their heads and paws cut off. “The third one, a female was not cut.”
This latest incident of unlawful hunting or hunting of specially protected animals (lions) without permit is similar to the cases that were previously reported in Tzaneen, Mara and Hoedspruit, he said.

The motive is not known at this stage and police investigations continue.
