Garage owner condemns attack on customer

A robbery at knife point made waves on social media this morning (Friday).

POLOKWANE –  The robbery was caught on CCTV footage at a local filling station on the corner of Bok and Rissik Street in the Polokwane CBD.

The ambush was caught on CCTV camera at the garage and showed a gang of four men not only assault but rob an unidentified man.

The owner of the Total filling station gave the following statement:

“We can confirm that a man was robbed at our filling station at around 11:00 on Sunday, 22 January. The men waited for the opportunity to attack the man and robbed him at knife point,” he said.

According to the owner, he suspects the criminals are well-known in the area and may be also linked to a number of other robberies recently.

He condemned the attack on the unsuspecting customer and explained why the attendants did not assist the man. “We advise our workers that if anything of this nature happens,  they should press the panic button. The panic button alerts the security company and they alert the police. We ask our employees not to intervene especially when weapons are involved.” .

He added that the video they shared assisted the SAPS in their investigation, two of the four suspects were already caught.
