Tshililo now off to varsity thanks to CT company

Tshililo Ralikake's dream of studying further is now becoming a reality after Entersekt, a company based in Cape Town, came to his rescue by offering him a four-year bursary.

LIMPOPO – Tshililo, who passed Gr 12 at Milton Mpfumedzeni Secondary with distinctions in mathematics, science, life sciences, life orientation, Tshivenda and a B symbol in English and geography has already submitted all the documents needed by the company.

Jeanne Maartens (Head of Marketing) of Entersekt said Tshililo will do his first year at Wits, in electrical engineering and continue with the rest of his degree at Stellenbosch University from his second year onwards.

“We will offer him a four-year bursary where funding for every year subsequent to his first year will be dependent on him passing the previous year.

“Tshililo will be expected to provide us with quarterly updates on his results and progress and will also have to check in with an assigned coach at our Johannesburg office whom could support him in his studies,” she said.

A plan is also in place in terms of how Tshililo will work for the company for one year for every year sponsored, during which he will be paid a market related salary, she said.

Tshililo thanked Entersekt for coming to his rescue, as well as the Domba Trust, who showed in interest in the case since the beginning.

He is the youngest in a family of five – his parents died when he was still young, and was left in the care of his grandmother.

“Things have been difficult since the death of our parents. My two brothers and two sisters never passed Gr 12 and they rely on piece jobs for survival.

“I rely on my grandmother’s monthly grant and it has been a difficult journey so far. I will leave Limpopo on the 28 January of this month for Wits University,” he said.

Milton Mpfumedzeni Secondary School Principal, Joseph Muvhango said he was happy that the boy was finally going to further his studies at a university.
