Twenty six suspects nabbed over the weekend

The arrests were made over the weekend during tactical and intelligence- driven operations around the province.

LIMPOPO – 26 suspects were arrested over the weekend for various crimes during tactical and intelligence- driven operations around the province.

Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo provided a breakdown of the arrests where he says the suspects are expected to appear in different courts soon.

– Three suspects were arrested for the house robbery that took place in the past week at Haenertsburg in which plasma tv, Isuzu motor vehicle and other properties were robbed. Mojapelo says all items were recovered, except the vehicle.

– One Zimbabwean national was arrested for possession of 500 cab fuse detonators at Beitbeidge on Saturday. “The origin of the detonators is being investigated,” said Mojapelo.

– Four suspects were arrested for torching the house belonging to a Councillor at ga-Makeboho and they face charges of Arson.

– Five suspects aged between 38 and 25 were arrested in Lephalale and Burgersfort respectively for possession of cannabis (dagga) to the combined value of R2000.

– Three suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

“In Ritavi, a 28 year old suspect was found in possession of two pistols and 20 rounds of live ammunition. Ten numbers were filed off,” says Mojapelo. He says two more suspects were arrested and found in possession of .38 special revolver and 9mm pistol respectively, in Mahwelereng and Mogwadi

– Four suspects were nabbed for a business robbery in Mogwadi

– One suspect was arrested in Seshego for possession of suspected stolen water pump machine.

– Three suspects, aged between 22 and 29, were arrested in Giyani and Bela Bela respectively for a home robbery.

– In Lephalale and Mnkweng, three suspects aged between 24 and 29 were arrested for armed robbery and common robbery respectively.

“All arrests were effective between 20 January 2017 and 22 January 2017,” says Mojapelo.
