Muni working to fix knocked over traffic light

“We have escalated the matter to the electrical services to repair the damage" muni

POLOKWANE – The matter of the traffic light which was knocked over at the Webster and Thabo Mbeki intersection is being dealt with by the municipality.

Municipality Spokesperson Matshidiso Mothapo, indicated that the traffic light was damaged in an accident this morning and says the matter will be dealt with as soon as possible.

“We have escalated the matter to the electrical services to repair the damage, and hopefully they do that sooner,” Matshidiso explains.

He explains that in terms of the law, motorists are cautioned to treat such intersections as a four-way stop sign and should proceed only when it is safe to do so in order to avoid any further accidents.

Mothapo says it is also advisable to observe the speed limit in the urban area as that is how most accidents occur.

“Motorists are advised to be more careful when driving and to report such incidents immediately when noticed.”
