Checkmate: Mitchell House learner represents Lim

Ismail competed between 14-19 December and did exceptionally well.

POLOKWANE – Ismail Gani has proved that Mitchell House has talented learners, making the school proud in the December holidays by representing the province at the South African Junior Chess Championships (SAJCC) in Boksburg

Ismail competed between 14-19 December and did exceptionally well. He was also the only learner representing Limpopo from Mitchell House.

Ismail not only made his school proud, but his parents are just as proud, saying he has set an example to other young kids out there.

“I’m sure a lot of mothers would agree, as a mother, I am very proud of him because he sets an example to most of his peers, if you reach high for your goals, nothing will stop you from competing in what you love and good in, as long as the sports and competitions do not make him loose concentration on his school work, then it’s okay with us, he must keep on making his school and parents proud,” Kaamila Ismail explains.

After winning a match, Ismail answered just as a Chess player would, with a pun, saying he was moved.
