Miss Mokopane – more than just a pretty face

Tebogo Mphahlele, the winner of the 2016/17 Miss Mokopane title, visited Bosveld to tell us more about herself

MOKOPANE – With a smile that can light up the room and beauty in her genes, Tebogo Mphalele (20) is without a doubt a worthy winner of the 2016/17 Miss Mokopane title.

This softspoken perfect combination of beauty and brains recently visited Bosveld to share her glamorous story.
What made you decide to take part in the Miss Mokopane pageant?
“I realised there are numerous routes to personal discoveries and I thought entering this pageant could be one of the platforms to discover more of my strenghts. My victory was purely by the grace of God.”
Are pageants something you love or just a sideline hobby?
“This was actually the first pageant I entered but I have always loved watching beauty pageants on television. I hope this experience is only the beginning of a magical and gratifying journey in the pageantry world.”
Are you doing anything else to benefit your future such as studying?
“Oh yes! I am a medical student at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) formerly known as Medunsa. I am currently doing my third year of studying.”
Do you have any other hobbies or talents?
“I used to do ballet and gymnastics. I enjoy travelling, reading and outdoor activities.”
Are you part of any charity organisation or similar events?
“I am hands-on with charity work. During the festive season I had health talks at an annual function for the elderly about hypertension and at the Rotary Club session in Mokopane. I also volunteered at the Mokopane Pediatric Centre a few years back. I work at Folang Medical Centre every December to engage in their outreach programmes.”
What is the biggest achievement you have accomplished so far?
“Being a medical student because I am fulfilling my passion of longing to grow in knowledge so I can assist people to monitor their health and follow healthy living routines, so doing helping to raise their life expectancy.”
What is your plans and aspirations for the future?
“My greatest aspiration is to establish programmes and projects that caters to medical and psychosocial issues of the elderly.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
“I have completed my undergraduate degree and engaged in a postgraduate course.
“I also want to make some time to travel the world.”
Describe you personality in 10 words or less
“Bubbly, amiable, compassionate, strong-willed and cautious.
Tebogo is the middle child with an older sister and younger twin brothers who are enrolled at Hoërskool Piet Potgieter.
She says her parents and family support her every step of the way and takes great pride in her victory.
“I have numerous role models or special people who I look up to.
“They all possess of outstanding traits, values and morals that I desire to acquire.
“I want to have as big of a positive  influence and impact on the lives of those around me.
“My mother is my biggest role model and inspiration,” Tebogo concluded.
