Lim police recover over R170k in cash

Police spokesperson LT Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspects had already used the remaining money because around R200 000 of cash was stolen.

LIMPOPO- A joint operation by SAPS and CPF groups led to the recovery of a large sum of stolen money recently.

R174 080, which was robbed during a cash in-transit in Marble Hall, was recovered during the operation in which five suspects, two men and three women were arrested. The money was found hidden in a shallow grave and in the suspects’ homes.

It is alleged that G4 Security officers on duty on Friday, 6 January, at Moratiwa Complex in the Marble Hall area, collected eight bags of money inside FNB, but only scanned seven bags in order to steal one bag.
On their arrival at Marble Hall, the same day, they shared the money and during the operation, the suspects who are employed by this company as crew and their relatives were arrested and the money recovered.

Police spokesperson LT Col Moatshe Ngoepe says the suspects had already used the remaining money because around R200 000 of cash was stolen.

“The suspects will appear before different Magisterial Courts on Monday and Police investigations are still continuing,” he said.

In the Groblersdal Cluster, local crime prevention members were conducting patrol duties at Bloempoort farms, where dagga plants to the estimated street value of R50 000 were confiscated in the open field. The suspect is still on the run.

Intelligence Led Tactical Operations were also conducted at Bela-Bela, Burgersfort, Namakgale, Westernburg and Hlogotlou Policing areas which resulted in various successes including the recovery of various items, the arrests of 11 suspects for various offences, drugs and illegal ammunition.

In the Giyani Cluster, in Lulekani near Phalaborwa, the Police in partnership with the CPF conducted ‘Operation Thathazonke’ which focused on various problematic areas.

During the operation, four  suspects aged between 20 and 56 years were arrested for housebreaking and theft incidents and stolen items were recovered.

“The suspects will appear before Lulekani Magistrate Court soon and Police investigations are still continuing,” said Ngoepe

The Provincial Commissioner LT. General Nneke Ledwaba applauded all these teams of members for the job well done.
